The 70th Annual Meeting of The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has ended with the election of the Head of the Nigeria Delegation, Hajiya Binta Abdulkadir, as the Vice-Chairman of Council for a one-year tenure. She succeeds Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa of Ghana.
The 66th Annual Meeting of The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has ended in Banjul, The Gambia with the election of Mr. Baboucarr Bouy of The Gambia as the 19th Chairman of the sub-regional organisation. His election is for a three-year tenure in line with the Council’s Convention. He succeeds Dr. D. Evelyn S. Kandakai of Liberia, who was elected in March 2015.
The 64th Annual Meeting of The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has ended in Accra, Ghana with the election of Ghana’s Chief Government Nominee on Council, Mr. Jacob Kor, as Vice Chairman for a one-year tenure. He succeeds Hon. Dr. Romelle Horton of Liberia.
The 61st Annual Meeting of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has ended in Banjul, The Gambia with the election of The Gambia’s Chief Government Nominee on Council, Mr. Baboucarr Bouy, as Vice-Chairman for a one-year tenure. He succeeds Barrister D. C. Uwaezuoke of Nigeria.
The meeting, which was held from March 18 to 22, 2013, was formally declared open by His Excellency, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya A. J. J. Jammeh (GMRG), President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of The Gambia, who was represented by the Honourable Minister for Presidential Affairs, Secretary General and Head of Civil Service, Dr. Njogu L. Bah.
The 60th Annual Meeting of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has ended in Abuja, Nigeria with the election of Professor Pius Augustine Ike Obanya of Nigeria as the 17th Chairman of the Sub-regional organization. His election is for a three-year tenure in line with the Council’s Convention. He succeeds Prof. Jonas A. S. Redwood-Sawyerr of Sierra Leone, who was elected in 2009.
The 59th Annual Meeting of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has ended in Accra, Ghana with the election of Ghana’s Chief Government Nominee on Council, Ms. Benedicta N. Biney, as Vice-Chairman for a one-year tenure. She succeeds Hon. (Dr.) Mator F. Kpangbai of Liberia.
The meeting, which was held from Tuesday, March 15 to Friday, March 18, 2011, was formally declared open by His Excellency, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Ghana, who was represented by the Chairman of the Council of State, Prof. Kofi Awoonor.
The meetings of the various Committees of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Liberia were held in Monrovia from Monday, 22nd to Friday, 26th November 2010. The Committees of Council that met during the period included the Liberia Aptitude Tests and Examinations Committee, the Liberia Administrative and Finance Committee and the Liberia National Committee, which is the highest decision-making organ of the Council in Liberia. The members of the Council’s Committees include Government nominees, representatives of the Ministry of Education, Universities, National Association of Liberia School Principals, National Teachers Association of Liberia, and other interests. The statutory Chairman of the Committees is the Deputy Minister for Instruction who is also the Chief Government Nominee of Liberia on Council, Honourable (Dr.) Mator M. F. Kpangbai.

The Committees that met during the period included the Gambia Aptitude Tests and Examinations Committee, the Gambia Appointments Committee, the Gambia Administrative and Finance Committee and the Gambia National Committee, which is the highest decision-making organ of the Council in The Gambia. The members of the Committees included Government Nominees, representatives of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Universities, Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools, and other interests.
