The West African Examinations Council, a sub-regional organisation responsible for the conduct of a variety of examinations in the English-speaking West African countries, invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant position at its Headquarters in Accra, Ghana.

1.0 INTRODUCTION

Distinguished Chairman of the West African Examinations Council, Mr. Vice-Chairman, Leaders of Country Delegation, Council Members, Heads of National Office, Colleagues all, I am indeed delighted to warmly welcome you all to the Smiling Coast of West Africa, Banjul, Capital of the Republic of The Gambia and host City for the 61st Annual Council Meeting. Five years have rolled past since we last gathered in this great City for the 56th Annual Council Meeting held in March 2008.

Reputable companies in The Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone are hereby invited to tender for the printing of The West African Examinations Council’s Greeting Card for 2013.

The terms of the tender are as follows:

(1)    Three full artwork designs of the front cover of the card which must include an embossed logo of the Council.

The 61st Annual Meeting of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has ended in Banjul, The Gambia with the election of The Gambia’s Chief Government Nominee on Council, Mr. Baboucarr Bouy, as Vice-Chairman for a one-year tenure. He succeeds Barrister D. C. Uwaezuoke of Nigeria.

The meeting, which was held from March 18 to 22, 2013, was formally declared open by His Excellency, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya A. J. J. Jammeh (GMRG), President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of The Gambia, who was represented by the Honourable Minister for Presidential Affairs, Secretary General and Head of Civil Service, Dr. Njogu L. Bah.
